Land Registry has published a new consultation on their proposals for changes to the Land Registration Rules 2003.
These proposed changes will allow Land Registry to offer digital alternatives to paper conveyancing and registration including amendments to reflect how the Land Registry have modernised and simplified services through digital transformation.
This is not a radical review of the Land Registration Rules 2003 but is partly aimed at allowing for fully digital conveyancing documents with e-signatures for land transactions and land registration. The proposals include revoking existing rules allowing only for limited digital mortgages in light of the Land Registry’s successful modernisation of digital mortgage procedures.
The Land Registry is therefore seeking views from conveyancers, stakeholders and other parties with an interest in the property market.

The consultation closes at 6pm on 5 April 2017
