The Intellectul Property Office has introduced various changes to the Patents Rules 2007 some of which came into force on 1 October 2016.
The IPI has issued guidance about these changes which is available iby clicking on the links below:-

manual of patent practice - detailed guidance on the IPO’s practice in relation to patent applications and patents
practice notice: notifications of intention to grant - detailed guidance on the new process for notifying patent applicants that their patent is going to be granted

Further changes will take effect on 6 April 2017.
